    Hello,
I will need to ask you some more questions. How old is the keyless entry? Does it light up when you press any buttons? What type of battery does it have? How old is the machine hanging from the ceiling? Is it a Craftsman opener? Does it have a block of switches on a circuit board near the back of the opener? Do you see any red, green or purple square buttons? How about yellow, white, green circular buttons? What colour antennae does it have? You might have to remove possibly a light cover. Do not remove any screws. May sound sort of daunting. It is an easy fix but with out seeing it you have to be my eyes! You could also send me some photos if you wish. You can get back to me here or email me at [email protected], visit my website at Garage Door Repairs | Canyon Springs Overhead Door, Vancouver, BC or call me toll free at 1 877 931-2777. The regular number here is 604 945-7595.
    Hope this helps

I see this thread it a few years old, but I had a difficult time finding the CORRECT way to program this remote. There are a few sites that give the wrong programming of the Sears 139.53684.
There are two ways: First, if you remove the light cover you will see an orange learn button. Press this button (DO NOT HOLD OR IT WILL ERASE ALL MEMORY) and an LED should light. Within 30 seconds, enter your new 4-digit code on the 139.53684 and hold the "ENTER" button until the light on the motor flashes. New code is learned!

    Method two:
If you have a multi-control on your wall as an opener (with a light button) enter the new the new 4-digit code on your 139.53684 and hold the "ENTER" button, while holding the enter button press and hold the light button. Continue holding the enter and light buttons and press the "open bar" (You're holding ALL three buttons now) when the light on the motor blinks, release all buttons and your new code is programmed.
