    Florida Mobile Home Insurance
I live in Florida in a Double-wide Mobile Home. Where can I get home owners insurance that's not to costly? Also something that would cover the contents?

Ever since Hurricaine Andrew the insurance industry that has not bailed out of Florida has raised their rates out of this world on mobile home owners. You could look on the net for insurers who do insure Florida mobile homes, but the rates more than doubled right after Andrew (at least my home did when I still lived in Florida). The insurance generally covers the contents and any outbuildings. Be sure to make your agent understand your insurance needs when you do locate reasonable coverage for your home.

Allstate used to insure homes before Andrew. Now I understand they are back in Florida and insuring mobile homes again. I had my huge double wide home insured through them when Andrew hit back in 1992. They paid to have my home totally releveled and replace several broken windows. They are easy to deal with. I have my home in Ohio insured with them as well now. They do offer a much better replacement value for mobile homes as well. Some insurance companies don't give true replacement value on the homes if they are totalled. Call and check them out.

Statewide Insurance is an independent insurance agency and they will quote your mobile home insurance with multiple Florida carriers so you don't have to call everyone in the phonebook. You can call or get a quote online. The toll free number is 888-929-2469 or their website is http://insuringflorida.com.
