    DirecTv Pros and Cons
I switched from Dishnetwork who I was a customer with for almost 4 years to DirecTv a few months ago. I was fed up with the constant technical problems from DishNet and they didn't want to fix anything. I like DirecTv so far because they own the equipment so if anything breaks, then they are responsible for the repair. I also love my new DVR. However, I am not satisfied with the cost of the same programming. I pay about $15-$20 more dollars a month for DirecTv than I did for DishNet.

I'm trying to get an idea of the overall preferances of whoever is taking the time to read this. Lol Should I switch back to DishNet or could I modify my programming to match? I'm just trying to economize and lower my bill. What do you use and are you happy with it?

Let me see, is the extra money per month worth the better service, the lower amount of technical problems and the ability to get things fixed if they don't work?

Some times the extra money is worth the service

I switched from direct to dish. Direct has better pachages but cost is higher and most of all I got tired of losing signal every time a cloud pass over

You're absolutely right about that. I've known people to switch one company for the other and then switch back due to the cost of service. I'm not as worried about the cost as I am about performance. I've had some problems with getting a signal on DirecTv but not on DishNet... but then I've also not had to worry about broken dishes either. I would say Fuggettaboutit and go to cable... but I live too far out. Is there another company available??

Esquire, yeah, I noticed the signal gets lost every time a chipmunk farts in the woods with DirecTv. Did you have problems with having to reset your receiver every once in a while for no apparent reason? I've had mine since April and have had to reset at least 3 times because it won't go to the guide or sometimes it just resets itself during a show for absolutely no reason. I also lost all of my items on the DVR and still can't figure out why it would spontaniously delete all of my recorded items. I had to start all over again re recording my Sopranos. Lol

Yup, I had those problems as well. I guess if I start having those problems with dish I will cancell it and go back to having just 3 channels of free TV
