Hi, I am wondering if anyone has an easy step by step process that I can follow to jumper my thermostat at the furnace. If I do not have access to the thermostat (upstairs and the landlord isn't home, but I am working in the tenants apartment in the basement) and I want to check my manifold pressure, dropout and such how would I do it safely without frying the thermostat? I should put a jumper wire between R and W, but I was told to disconnect the thermostat wire first. Does that mean I disconnect R place my jumper between the 2 and then put R back on? Any help of confirmation of this would be very appreciated!

Simply jump R to W, as you thought. No need to remove the stat wires, just jump r to w and you will create a call for heat. You will now be able to do your manometer testing etc. Just make sure to take the jumper out when your done.
