    Furnace makes a big boom!
    Sometimes when my heat kicks on it makes a loud fiery sound like its flame is booming. Hard to explain. Anyone know what I might be referring to?

    Sounds like too much gas is accumulating before it ignites. I am not sure I should suggest much more than cleaning the ignitor or pilot light. Be gentle with the ignitor. I laugh every time my spell check suggests DIE in place of DIY. If cleaning doesn't do it, maybe let the tech laugh all the way to the bank.

    Yes, I had the same situation. I contacted the local power company and they sent a technician out, it seems I just needed to have my furnace cleaned. Have since done so,
    And is "quiet as a mouse."

    Susan gave you good advice, it is not a hard job but can create problems if you do not know what you are doing, so it will be money well spent.

    Yes, this delayed combustion is almost always do to a dirty burner, pilot or flame extender rod.
