    Dancing - good exercise?
I'm just wondering if dancing to music is as good of an exercise as aerobics or other exercise videos. I like to get some exercise every day, but those videos are really boring, and I love dancing. :)

Absolutely. But it has to be a physical, non-stop dancing variety.

Yes, dancing is good exercise. Moving to music appeals to our most primal instincts. Dance has been a part of culture for as long has man has walked the planet. It stimulates the senses, sight, sound and touch. It's great fun and it's good for our bodies and minds. Dancing improves your health, and regular dancing will also help keep you trim and fit.

Thanks to both of you! Guess I will be doing more dancing now, and less aerobics tapes! Yay! :)

I tried to give you an agreement PrettynPetite, but it said I need to spread more reputation around before giving it to you again. I'll try to give you some later!

Yeah -- if you're interested in exercise music... for gym music or music for fitness in general, I recommend European dance music...

It's always the best motivational tool for me...

... here's a compilation series on iTunes that I recommend -- the "Euro Club Hits" series:

Dancing is great exercise. I compete in Hip-Hop dance competitions and Aerobics competitions too.(Not like the aerobics videos. Intense aerobics like lifts and splits etc). I train once a week for aerobics and twice a week for hip-hop. I keep very fit and its extremely tiring doing my moves to music. If you just do some of your own moves to music I am sure it will do the same as my dancing. If you just dance without jumping and arm movements, it may not do very much to keep you fit. But I'm sure if you do pushups and jumping jacks along with some other moves, it will just be like doing my dancing and you can keep fit too. ;) Hope I helped you out!

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to share these Arabic belly dance exercises I found yesterday. I gave them a go and must say I have never felt so worked out in my life and well I'm not sure how but I felt more confident too. Here is the link if you want to see for yourselfYouTube - Arabic Belly Dance Basic Moves Part 01 of 04 I will warn you that some of these will take a lot of practice to get the hang of and you'll get worn out trying to keep up with these girls.

Yes indeed it is! I love dancing and I personally don't like working out at the gym. I find it to be a bit boring and loses my attention. However, dancing is activities and helps you to work out all of your muscles and burn some calories. After a couple of weeks of dancing you will see a change on your body as well as your mood. It can help you to be a calmer and happier person. You also can take those same moves and use it on the dance floor. I say try it and I believe that you will not regret it!
