How do I file a motion to take away parental rights in Tennessee
My son is 4 1/2 and I took his father to court when he was a couple of months old to get support and visitation and he never did either. He has never seen him, and I am fine with nothing from him, but I want to move on with my life and move, how can I legally do this? Is there a way I can file to remove his parent rights? I can't even find him to get a hold of him.

He is the father - if you marry and have someone to co-parent with you your husband could petition to adopt the child with the consent of the father.

If there is a support order in place why haven't you tried to enforce it?

But no, you cannot remove his parental rights.

There is a sticky at the top of this forum that answers this question. Courts are very reluctant to grant TPRs. Generally they will only do so to clear the way for adoption or if the parent represents a danger to the child.

Since the father has made no attempt to be a part of your son's life, you gain very little by getting a TPR if you could. Go on with your life. You can deal with the father if and when you need to.

Tennessee will not take his rights away just because he does not viist, or pay, ** he is not using any rights anyway.

Tennessee is very good at collections, they will put him in jali for non payment if you notify child support enforcement
