An Aunt's rights to see niece in foster care
My niece has been in the custody of DSS for more than 2 years. She is in foster care right now. I keep calling her social worker to see about seeing her and talking to her but she tells me that this case is none of my business. This is in North Carolina. I really need to know what I can do.

Unfortunately, since you are not the child's immediate relative and the child is ward of the state, the DSS is prohibited by law to disclose the child's whereabouts or any other information pertaining to the child. I am not familiar with the laws in NC but perhaps seeking advice from an attorney would be your best bet.
