I have ask this question twice before and the answer you gave me was a velvet ant which is wrong because I look it up the velvet ant has a divided body part ant the one I saw was a solid body bright red with a black stripe around it body and about an half inch long. Some people tell me it a wingless wasp which I think is wrong does anybody now what this is, it look like and ant and very hard 2 kill when you step on it.

Maybe you should take a picture of the ant and post it.

Ants, by definition, have divided bodies. The thorax and the abdomen.
Maybe, like aliseaodo said, you aren't looking at an ant.

Jennifer I know what you are talking about and I'm also trying to locate the name of this bug.It does look like an ant, but so far I haven't had any luck. And it's not a cow killer because it's not fuzzy.
I'll let you know if I find it.

I saw one once as well, the red and black stripes were identical in width and perfectly straight. The colors were solid with no variations.
It was "solid" without the distinct separation seen in the velvet cow.

I am in middle Tennessee and have just seen one of these. I killed one about 2 days ago and they are extremely hard to kill by stepping on them. About an inch long, bright red with black stripes with separation in the body so not an ant. I have not found anything that looks like it anywhere and really would like to know what they are...

This is an ant:
(Click here for ant image search result)
Ants don't typically come in stripes. An ant that is a quarter inch thick, not including legs, and a half inch long would be a big ant.
All adult insects are composed of three basic segments - head, thorax and abdomen. The three segments are not as obvious in insects like beetles and they might appear to have a "solid" body.
Here is a red beetle with black stripes or is it a black beetle with red stripes:
Here is another red striped beetle with a "solid?" body:
