How do I delete an old email address from Hotmail?
    Hi,

I want to know if anyone happen to know how I can remove certain email addresses from the auto fill list in Hotmail which pop up for the contact when I type in the first couple letters of the contact in the 'to' bar. The previously used addresses will show even when the contact has been deleted.

Example: If I send an email to a particular address that I no longer want to send email to, how do I remove that address completely from the "to" bar so it will no longer pop up when I start typing in a different (although similar) address?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This worked for me. Sent by a Microsoft technical guy. Good for them!

E-mail addresses that you have recently sent an e-mail to will automatically appear in the “auto-complete” option when you type in the “To” field. This is part of the “Contact Picker” feature.

I suggest that you try the steps under the heading “Enabling/Disabling recently emailed contact data in auto-complete and contact picker:” on the Solution Article “How to customize the different features in Windows Live Hotmail”. To view the article, please access the link below.

Whenever my browser offers an autocomplete option I no longer wish to see, as soon as it appears and is highlighted, I press the DELETE key.

Please ignore my previous answer as I went into the link again but found it confusing.
    However have found the following.
Sign in to Hotmail first page. Click OPTIONS. In left panel click SHOW ME OPTIONS FOR and then HOTMAIL.
Go to CUSTOMIZING HOTMAIL and click ADVANCED PRIVACY SETTINGS. Click ONLY SUGGEST PEOPLE IN MY CONTACT LIST.
Click SAVE. You then need to sign out and sign in again for this to tak effect.

However I found that turning the first option back on still recalled the addresses you wanted to get rid of in the first place!

There is no cure. The system belongs to mictoshaft and their foreign help-puppets can't do anything for you.
Migrate your contacts to another email provider and leave hotmail to the foreigners.

In Hotmail go to OPTIONS & Under 'Customizing Hotmail' title, Click Advanced Privacy Options, and under AUTO-COMPLETE Options there's the following: 1. Give suggestions for anyone I've communicated with (contacts and non-contacts) or 2. Only suggest people in my contact list Number 2 is what you want Ticked, then click Save. TJDASH.

Can't remove contacts from TO list and they aren't in my Contacts list in Hotmail --

Nothing seems to work! I have the same problem. I see many other postings struggling with same problem. The "uninvite" is not the solution. It's not a hacking problem. It's a Microsoft problem. Microsoft stuff is getting ever more junky-clunky! With no support or fixes for their junky-clunky software and support efforts.
