    PAPA PIERRE
KTE 308-A 3 speed pull chain switch
I have an old SMC ceiling fan and I have to replace the 3 speed pull chain switch because the neck is broken on it. All the universal switches on sale on the market do not work because they are wired differently inside. The switch is a KTE 308-A (made in Japan ) I have contacted the company in Japan to find out where I could buy such a switch but they said that I had to buy a minimum of 5,000 switches. I have search the internet with no lock.
Could you help me find a place where I could buy a switch.
    The speed connection are : L-1-2-3, L-2-3, L-1-3, L1-2
Thank you and have a great day !

Its odd that the Off position connects L+1+2+3. I would ignore that Off Connections,
Is everyone in agreement that the switch is #3, under "pull chain switches" on ceilingfan's link, which is listed under double layer?

The off position is probably one of the other three positions. Or the OP is measuring wrong. Either way that link will help him get the correct switch.

Just doped out the wiring on one of these. The hot wire is connected to terminal 3. The common is connected to one end of the reversible winding. The fan is ON whenever terminal 3 is connected to "L".

I agree with PAPA PIERRE's measurements, I have the same switch and got the same measurements.

The measurements are right, the sequence is wrong. Off would not be all wires connected.

I have the same switch that needs replacing. Just checked it with a new multi, wiring works as follows:
    Off L-2-3
    Low L-1-3
    Med L-1-2
    High L-1-2-3
So, being that the common factor is L and 1 when the fan is operating.

Same model number doesn't mean the same switch.

Either order the switch from the fan's manufacturer, or match it up at ceilingfanparts.com.

I have the same KTE 308 switch with
    Off L-2-3
    Low L-1-3
    Med L-1-2
    High L-1-2-3

    Unfortunately, I don't know which wires go to L, 1, 2 & 3.

My wires are Black, Yellow, Orange and Dark Blue.

    Any suggestions which color wires go to L, 1, 2 & 3?

BTW, the capacitor has 3 wires, Grey (in?), Yellow and Dark Blue (out?).

    Thanks.

Hi I also have a K.T.E. E87438. The chain broke and the replacement from Jandorf didn't seem to work. The original fell apart before I could mark the wires but the red is still attached to the L. I don't know the rest of the wiring for the 2 black and 1 blue wire remaining. I can't seem to locate the KTE replacement part, please help!
