    U have a 60 amp service in a 100 amp panel.

The wire bringing in power may be rated for 100 amp. U would need to check size of wire feeding panel.

One of the electricians will be along to let u know what size the wire would have to be.

Is this the main supply for the house or a sub panel? 60 amp is very low, usually found in old houses with 120V. Take the cover off the box and check to see if there are 3 wires coming in and what gauge they are. Aluminum service entrance for 100Amps is #2, that is usually the smallest. If it is being used as a subpanel, at 60Amps it would be a #4. I have never seen a #4 used as a service entrance.

Johnpruneau, if your COMFORTABLE and have some experience with electrical panels, you can remove the cover. If not, have an electrician or at least someone experienced do it for you. Do it yourself work and electricity aren't always the best combination.
