Blue, Black and White wires in celing fan
I removed a ceiling fan to replace a switch but did not note the wires. Now I want to replace the fan but find it has Blue, Black and White wires, whereas the wires coming from the ceiling are only White and Black. It also has a green wire attached to the casing.

Does the blue and black wire go together?

    Thanks,

    Mcsteph

Yes the black and blue from the fixture connects to the black feed at the ceiling, the black usually feeds the fan, and the blue usually feeds the light kit. They are separate when two wall switches are used to control each separately.

Your fan/light will need to use the pull chains to switch off either the fan or light as desired.

Both whites connect together, and all greens or bare wires from the fixture and the feed cable connect together and to the outlet box if it is metal.
