    "shaking dachshund"
Help! We boarded our 13 month old dachshund last weekend for 3 nights. When we picked him up (and ever since), he has been shaking (like if he were wet)... he is doing this constantly now and I don't know what could be causing it. I thought maybe he caught some fleas at the boarding place, but he isn't scratching and I treat him monthly with a good topical product. What do you think?
    Thanks in advance!

My mini shakes as well when he is scared or wants to be picked up. However, once he feels safe again he stops. I would take him to the vet, maybe they have some suggestions for you. I would also call the kennel and see if something happened while he was there.

If he is really doing the wet dog shake and not shivering, I would give him a good brushing with a soft bristled brush. If that doesn't help, try a bath. He may have gotten something in his fur and be trying to get rid of it.

In general, I find my dogs do fine without baths. But sometime they have something brushing won't take out.

Have you checked his ears? The inside to see if there is an infection, yeast, mites or other debris?

Dachshunds shake when they are in pain also, especially back pain. I would make sure the back wasn't injured while at the kennel. Does the dog cry at all when picked up? A trip to the vet would probably be a good idea.
