I have a 9 month old chihuahua that I applied frontline to and shortly after putting it on her I put her in her crate until I took care of my horses and other farm animals which takes a few hours then when I got back there was throw up all over inside her crate and she was frothing at the mouth eyes glassed over and really sick... I gave her a bath and used the dog shampoo three times on her to try and help take off the frontline but seems the damage was done and her skin is all red and terribly itchy so much so that she whines yips and yelps and rolls and rubs constantly driving herself nuts.is there any medication or something I can use on her to make her feel better by tomorrow because that's the earliest my vet could see her for this issue

Your dog definitely had a severe reaction. If your vet can't see you until tomorrow can you take her to an emergency vet or vet hospital tonight?

The only possible thing I could think to suggest if you have no option of a vet tonight is benedryl.

I want to emphasize that if you go with the benedryl without consulting your vet first, you do so at your own risk. I've never had to use this on any of my dogs and even though I've heard that it's safe, I cannot guarantee how safe it is, or if it will even work.

I would definitely consult a vet before trying benedryl.

The best option is an emergency vet.

Ty actually yes the vet did tell me to give her 1/4 children's benedryl but she's so irritated I was thinking of giving her another bath but I just don't want to further her irritation.ur comment back to me is much appreciated ty for that info greatly

How long ago did you give the benedryl? It can take some time to work, so do give it time.

Giving her another bath will only further irritate her skin. I would steer clear of bathing her again.

Does she have scabs, or is the skin just red and itchy?

Did the vet give any other recommendations? Can you contact him/her and ask if there's anything further that you can do? The only thing I can think of is a warm salt bath, but I wouldn't do it without speaking to your vet. I would imagine that a salt bath would be quite painful for your pup at this time.

My main concern about applying anything would be that it could have the opposite affect and make the irritation worse, or it could cause more pain for the dog.

Our dog expert should be online shortly. I'll send her a message and let her know about your question. Hopefully she'll be able to offer something I haven't thought of.

Give her a bath in dawn dish liquid similar thing happened to my schanuzer and 10 minutes after drying up he was fast asleep and all the bumps, itching, red swollen eyes were completely gone.. he had a reaction to the medicated dog shampoo petsmart used on him.

He's on frontline, and this added medicated shampoo I think was too much for him.
