I have an older 586 with AMIBIOS, which does not permit booting from the CDROM. Sbootmgr.dsk, an instance of SBM (Smart Boot Manager), is distributed with Slackware and some other distributions.
On this machine, SBM fails. I've tried installing it to the MBR on the hard drive, and I've tried installing it to a floppy. No luck.
Can anyone assist?
Oh, the CDROM works just fine, and is an ATAPI unit. I believe that the problem is perhaps BIOS related.
Suggestions? Thanks.
