Is it considered statutory rape for a 23 year old man too have sex or even date a 16 year old girl..?

There aren't laws against dating per se, but there are laws against sex. The laws vary by location though. In some areas it's 16, while in others it is 18.

One has to wonder though what a 23 year old man sees in a 16 year old. They are in 2 different stages of life. While the statute is 16 where I live, I have a 16 year old daughter and she would NEVER be allowed to date a 23 year old.

Well I'm just a by stander, And I happen to know the young girl, And 23 year old.. And... I just don't think its right at all. Her parents don't care or they don't know the truth.. Im thinkn about taking legal action. We are in Ontario, Canada and I'm pretty sure the legal age is 16. But she's a little girl, she doesn't even know what she wants in life.. its very sad too see.

I'm sorry, but I don't know Canadian law, but I do think the age there is 16. If the age is 16 there, there is little, if anything, you can do about it.

Truckn_mama999 -- so, its not sad for a 16 year old to have a relationship with a 23 year old ! I'm 16 and oh, I know what I want in life and I do happen to like someone whose 23, and it really doesen't matter. What someone 23 would see in someone 16, is the same things they would see in a 20 year old or what ever age.

She's not a little girl nor am I ! She and I are both young ladies and can make our own decisions now.

As for this question, In Canada, a 16 year old can be with a 23 year old, as long as the 23 year old is not in authority over the 16 year old, such as a teacher.
