If my fiancé has a 10 year probation sentence how long will he have to do to flatten?
Ok he is on house arrest and he has a violation but his house arrest officer says he has the option to flatten his time. He is a 30% offender. So I am trying to figure out how much time he is going to have to do in order to flatten his time?

I will assume this is not the US, since the term flatten is not a US term. Since laws differ by location what country is this from.

First a universal theme, don't trust the PO. He is not you boyfriends friend and not there to help him. I will guess that flatten means shorten, and hiring an attorney to be at the hearing is his most important thing to do. After that, the PO can do recommendation to the judge, the judge does not have to agree but normally does what PO asks

Also he said that he would probably do 3 years on a 10 year sentence because he is a 30% offender.

Ok, I was in law enforcement over 20 years and in TN for over 3 years, never heard of any of those terms ever.

    So
    1. either PO is making up things to tell you to make you feel better.
    2. PO should actually not even be talking to you but only to boyfriend anyway

I would most certainly not trust the PO.

Seldom on a probation violation do they go back and serve max anyway. And getting serving 3 or 4 out of 10 is about standard, then released but on parole or back on probation depending on how judge orders it.

He needs an attorney and to get a copy of the actual paper work the PO will present to the judge on recommendations and to work out a deal in writing ahead of time if possible

    Hello J:

I need some clarification... If the sentence is 10 years of PROBATION, then he'll do ALL 10.. You don't earn time off for good behavior on probation...
