What's my two dollar bill worth
I have two $2.00 bills that are dated 1976. On one of them my grandfather wrote at the bottom 4-13-1976 1st issue. I will call this one A. The issuing bank is a "G" on banknote A with the serial number G12037878A. In the upper left corner across from the 7 is B4 and on the right bottom hand side is B17. What do these mean?
The other $2.00 bill has an "F" on it with the serial number F28836375A, the letters by the 6 are B1 and B29. Are either of these bills worth anything. They were never used and are crisp and clean. Thank you.

Bluebabybucks-(#A) of the two $2.00 1776bills you have;;I wish that your grandfather had not written on the note ,because when a currency note is defaced like that ,[it looses a lot of its value as much as I hate to say]::#A-1) Now on the question about the number & and the letter " G "ANS.There are [12] FEDERAL RESERVE BANKS starting on the east coast at {BOSTON< IT IS (A-1} {NEW YORK CITY
IS (B-2){Philadelphia is C-3)And it ends up in SAN FRANCISCO
AS {L-12):these F.R.banks ALSO help print the paper currency, that is why you find a number and a letter that identifying each DISTRICT and F.R.Bank:: {#A2-the issuing bank letter is also used as the first letter of the notes serial number this called the [prefix number,or letter;;the last letter of the serial number ]like on yours, where the[A ]comes from where it was printed, and it will stay there until there are 25 groups
or blocksof 99,999,and each grouphaveing a different [prefix]letter of the alphabet from A TO Z,but the letter O is omitted because it is so similar to [ o ]but it will not be in the prefix or the suffix letter;; the 100,000,000th note in each groupe will be a [STAR NOTE};;#3-now on the small numbers and letters;; on front and back sides;; these are plate letters and numbers, they indicate the position, small size bills have combination letter and numberon the face side -such as [H-22]and a number on the back side such as [78];; at first paper currency was printed on sheetsof [8] then went to higher numbers as the presses were modified and larger, they now have a press that does 64 sheets at a time[EXAMPLE}-a 32 sheet is divided into 4 quarters called quadronts for numbering and other controls, each quadrant has its own numbering sequence For the nmjotes in that quADRONT,WITH SERIAL NUMBERS , SERIAL NUMBERS ADVANCING 20,000TO THE NEXT NOTE;;i HOPE THAT THIS HAS ANSWERED YOUR QUESTIONS BUT IF YOU HAVE ANY MORE JUST COME BACK TO THIS SITE AND POST IT .hAVE A GREAT DAY AND GOD BLESS::F.B.E.
PS -in the book there is no value for these notes under VF- 20 ,it only has for UNC-63,[NCIRCULATED] and that is for unc_63 it is $9.00 on {TEM A]& ITEM B IS $8.00
Have a good day and GOD BLESS ::F.B.E.
