Why is my 1 week old kitten have pus coming out from its eye?
Someone abandoned 7 kittens in a box right in front of my house, so I took them in and have been feeding them for one week already.

On day 4, one of them have bloody stools and the rest was fine. However I brought all of them to the vet. The vet said that there's nothing he can do, because they are so young that they can't take any medication.

On day 5, all of them have yellow watery stools and I am so worried. I brought them to the vet again and this time the vet ask me to dilute the formula milk.

On day 6, most of them are still in the same situation, one of them is still having bloody watery yellowish stools.

Today, I found pus oozing out from the eye of that one who have bloody stools. Another thing is that when I check them out getting ready for the feeding, I found them all wet! I don't know which one of them peed, but when I stimulate them after every feeding, they are just fine..

Now I am dead worried.. The vet is not open so I can only bring them to the vet tomorrow. Why is that one having pus coming out from its eye? The kittens wet themselves, is this a bad sign that something is going to happen? What can I do for now until I bring them to the vet? I feed and stimulates their bowel movement once every 3 hours around the clock. I am using KMF that was bought from the vet, and followed exactly how the vet has told me to do.. What else did I miss?

Eye infections are fairly common in kittens. Clean it's eyes with a warm, damp cotton ball. When the vet is open, they can give you something to treat the infection, and make sure it's not something more serious.

As for the stool, they may just need more time to adjust to the diet. Just keep feeding them and get them to the vet when you can.

It's possible that one of the other kittens ended up stimulating it's sibling, making it pee.

I'm glad the babies found you, and you're willing and able to do all the work required to take care of them, including taking them to the vet.

Crock, though I have no answers, I wanted to agree with heath here. There are too many people who don't want to do the things that need to be done for the kittens. I don't know if it would work, but maybe a shelter would have a nursing mother who would take them on... may not but may...
You are a wonderful person for what you are doing, and congrats new mommy!

Thank you both so much.. I brought them to the vet today. However he told me that they are extremely normal, without bad bacteria in their stomach.. I am so glad. However the vet gave me antibiotics for the kitties..

And the pus on the eye is sort of like a lubricant for them because their eye is opening soon.

Something great happened today.. their eyes are starting to open. Some with one eye opened, and some with half their eyes open.. I'm looking forward for bigger eyes tomorrow!

Just a couple pointers about their eyes.

Even after their eyes open, they'll still be almost completely blind for the next week or so.

If any don't seem to be opening their eyes, don't worry. Long-hair cats take twice as long for their eyes to open. Don't know why, and I haven't been able to find an explanation online, it's just the way it is.

You can still clean their eyes if they seem to be getting gunked closed.

The best you can do is go to the pet store & get formlated milk for them, served hardly warm. Start them out on a dry "kitty" food. Purina is good.

For the eye, a warm wet wash cloth lightly rubbed over the eye until the scum is removed. Then put a tiny bit of neosporium on your finger, and work it under the lid a little for infection. Sometimes it is either from a flea or fly that caused it.

You will need a litter box, and they will probably start using as soon as they start getting around. You might also make plans to transfer them to an Aminal rescue that will place them in homes for you. These people are trained and can tell you what the vet can. :) Talking here with 8 cats. LOL!
