My poor kitten is dying as I type and I don't know why!
I just got home and found one of my kittens breathing very weirdly! She won't meow right, she won't drink the kitten formula (her mommy was hit by a car), she seems to be 75% paralyzed... she can move but not like she used to. There's was 4 kittens that are like a week or 2 old who's mom died a few days after birth. They were outdoor kitties that I feed (im too much of an animal lover I spend the money I don't have to feed stray kitties)... and all but 1 had eye infections (big matted dirty puss filled lumps over their eyes)... and one died from the infection because it was just too much to help. The other's eye infections are okay now, I just clean them with a teabag or epsom salt or something but they still get gooey. Anyway... now this poor tiny orange kitten named Simone is lying helplessly and paralyzed looking on my couch with a blanket over her to keep warm. She was making weird noises 2 days ago and looked like she was going to cough something up so I held her upsidedown and just stroked her until she vomited... well after that she was fine but was just meowing like her throat hurt a bit from the puke... now she does this weird things where she will open her mouth really wide and just stick her tongue out.. and then wine after. When she does the opening of the mouth thing , it seems sudden like it's a reaction to a sudden pain. She's been like thisfor a hour or 2 and I really don't have money to save this kitten right now.. WHAT CAN I DO?? OR At least WHAT IS WRONG WITH HER!! She's SO PRECIOUS! :( pleease help without being rude and telling me I should have brought her to the vet... because sometimes people can't just pull that kind of money out of their bleep. Thanks :(

I know all the vets offices are probably closed but sometimes if you call on their machine they have an emergancy number you may be able to call. Not all vets have it though

After I posted that comment, I went to go check on the little palm sized baby... and it was too late. It took her forever to close her eyes and fall asleep.. but as soon as she did I'm guessing her heart just stopped. Im so heartbroken that I couldn't help... but I'm sort of happy she's out of her misery. Thanks anyway

Yea.. its just so sad... because they never were able to see their real mom before she died... so... to them , I was mommy and I could really feel their love... the same kind of love between a mother and child. She was just so happy.. always purring once she learned how. :( :( :(
    Well maybe there's a kitty heaven :p

These kittens had a upper respritory infection, and this goes hand in hand with conjunctivitis, the eye infection they were dealing with.More than likely this infection of the lungs was too much for the young kittens to over come.It is very hard to see animals suffer and die,and I myself had to learn how to deal with this on a daily basis because I am a vet tech and see death far too often. My job is fufilling, but at times the grief can become overwealming, and very depressing.I try to be strong, but most of these animals become a part of me,and when the result is death,it can be as difficult as losing one of my own.:(

Hi there, I have just bought a small kitten, it's a farm cat which is about 3 month old. We only had it for 3 days, it does seem to have infected eyes and even though it ate lots of kitten food the first day it was a little sick yesterday and it won't eat at all today, it has had some water and is fine in itself. I am bit worried as I have only very recently moved to Glasgow and rely on friends to take me to the vet as I don't know where they are. How long do you think one can wait if the kitten does not eat?

    Regards Sue

The most important thing is the cat is drinking water.Canned food is a good source of water, and if you can get it to eat a little every day,it will survive.Dehydration is the biggest worry for any animal which is sick.If the cat has an upper respritory infection it will need amoxidrops or cefadrops, which is a liquid antibiotic,to knock out the infection.I noticed drug stores are now selling eye drops that will treat pink eye. These drops contain antibiotics, and will drain into the cat's sinuses and relieve some of the cats distress. They will be on the shelf next to the Visine, and the brand is Symilisan.Good luck.

Thank you so much for your advise. But my Kitten was sick again this afternoon and I have figured out where the vet is and have an appointment first thing in the morning.

Good, the vet can let you know exactly what is wrong with your kitty. It is probably conjuntivitis, and some sort of upper respritory infection. He will make it feel better.
