I am starting a new thread because this seems like a question others may have. I have an outside cat who gave birth indoors yesterday, the family will be moved outside in about 3 weeks after the OK from our vet. My question though is should I bring in our male, who is VERY close to this female( brother to her accually), and let him slowly meet the kittens if mom seems okay with it ? Also if so how would you suggest doing this. Normally when we have a swet of kittens our males get mad and run off for a month or 2 and I don't want that to happen this time.

I'd keep the kittens indoors until there eating on there own... bring out an old shirt or blanket that the kittens are sleeping on and give it to the male to sleep on it will get him use to there scent. It may not bother mom too much because she knows his scent but just be very careful he may harm them. I would slowly introduce them once they are about 6 weeks.. but if you want them outside by 3 then that won't work.

I would wait until the kittens are older, and mom is willing to be away from them for a bit, then let mommy and her brother get reacquainted. See how he reacts to her change in smell, first. When the kittens are more active and mobile, you can think about letting him meet them, under strict supervision, of course.

Well he rushed the door lastnight and come in. She was eager to see him and wanted to rub and love, he took one smell of her and ran away. I sat on the floor with one on each side, her wanting him, him wanting none of it. I think she is lonely. I have the dog inside, (he is an inside/outside dog) she loves on him A lot, and he doesn't mind so I hope that will help some.

the middle one is a girl. Genetically, for a cat to have black and orange markings (tortie or calico), it has to have two X chromosomes. That just leaves the other two to sex.

the white one will probably grow up to look just like mommy.

they're gorgeous babies, and I hope we get to watch them get bigger.

I came across that information when my edith was pregnant. All three of her girls came out tortie, and the three boys came out black and white.

HAHA ALt, that is the one the kids are fighting to claim also! Heath, both dark ones are accually brown and black. The one is calicoish and the other looks like she has a mask on, half of her face is black and the other half is brown. : ) We had a terrific neighbor about 6 years ago and the babies were born on her daughter birthday, in honor of Micalita we will name one Micah and one Lita (if of course they are 2 girls indeed). The white one my son wants to name Batman lmao !

The brown will probably turn more orangish as they age. Chances are, you have two girls. The other, you'll just have to wait and see.

Just curious, why batman? It's a cool name for a cat, though. Then again, I named my kittens spot, mop, unky, alty, aura, and zoe. I like fun names.

This morning we were pulling weeds so we let her out with us. I gave my 10 yr old the job of following her to make sure she stayed around the porch lol. She was happy little girl again : ) After about an hour I had to scoop her up to get her in, but she went right to the babies and was OK with being there. GOt some treats and when she goes in I give her a few. Maybe this will cure her cabin fever
