3 year old litter trained cat peeing on rugs, pants, blankets
Please help! My 3 year old male cat has begun to pee on a certain rug and blanket ALL THE TIME. My husband and I got a year old female in May and they get along very well. We moved to a new house in May as well. I don't know what to do! I hate getting mad at him but it's getting really old. I've taken him to the vet and she said he's physically fine. I need help please!

This sort of thing usually starts as a physical problem (such as a urinary tract infection) and becomes a behavioural problem.

Ask your vet if there is anything she can do to help with this--there are some drugs out there that can help with the "stress" that your cat may be having, which can in turn help with the behavioural issue.

I have two cats, ages 5, and nine, that have been liter trained their entire lives. However when we moved in to our new home three years ago we had a similar problem. We found this to be attributed to the fact that prior to our moving in there had been mice in the house, and cats will cover the smell of rodent urine with their own. We had to dispose of any old carpets that rodents may have been on, have the wood floors refinished, and seal the basement floors to get rid of any possible rodent smells, we haven't had any problems since than, except for one time I was in a crawlspace where I had seen mouse droppings, and when I got back home, I sat in a chair in the pants I had been wearing in the crawl space, and while I was in the shower the cats urinated on my pants, and the chair I had sat in. I learned allot about cat behavior from a book called "Twisted whiskers", which you can purchase on-line for about $10, on the site I have attached.Books - Twisted Whiskers - 9780895947109
