When the line gets that brittle the only thing you can do that will be safe is to replace the entire line. You have to remove the door and lay on flat surface. You will need Clear GE Silicone Caulk, and a plastic line set with fittings. Take a piece of tubing with you to the hardware store to be sure of a match. You may be able to change the size to a conventional size if it's an odd size by changing the fittings on each end. Remove all screws around edge of door and around edge of inside door. You will now have access to the line and can change it. If you have to remove much foam to get at tubing you will have to replace it with the kind in a can. Make sure not to over tighten the fittings-just snug them up good. Leak test before re-assembling door. Don't neglect to do this because leaks are easy to get with these plastic fittings. Buy extra fittings for this reason-at least 4-6 extra. Hang door back on and you are done.
