    Alternative medicine for Multiple Sclerosis
    Is the drug Sativex effective for the treatment of Multiple sclerosis?

    Don't know about Sativex but I have heard that many people have shown major improvement and far fewer MS attacks by taking vitamin D supplements. Old guidelines used to say that 2000 I.U. a day was the limit but newer studies show that up to 10,000 I.U. a day is safe. Vitamin D is also found in milk and is produced by the sun, so get about 30 minutes of sun a day from May until October.

    Herbal remedies for MS would typically include ingredients that would address symptoms which are most troublesome for the individual.

    Some commonly recommended herbs include Avena sativa (nerve tonic), Lavendula angustifolia and Melissa officinalis and Passiflora incarnata (stress and anxiety), St John’s Wort (depression and nerve tonic), as well as various herbs for bladder problems, constipation and general inflammation. Biochemic tissue salts can be helpful as a safe anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic and to relieve cramps, improve circulation and support nervous system health.

    I agree with the others. There are good alternative meds for MS but you need a good alternative dr.
    I think some amino acids are suppose to be good as well as the vitamin D and some other things.
    I will look them up and get back to you.

    Also some have claimed to be cured by bee stings but again you need someone that knows what they are doing if you want to go there.

    If I know correctly the Sativex you mentioned is not a treatment drug for MS. It can be prescribed to treat spasticity caused by multiple sclerosis. I know that it's available in several countries in Europe, but I'm not even sure if it's approved in the US. However Tysabri it is a treatment drug for MS, but you should be aware of the PML complication associated with it. There are several drug related progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy lawsuits going on because of that.
    In any case you should consult your doctor for advice, especially with such a serious disease like MS.
