I am having the most difficult time learning this one. I don't understand how to solve

f(x). I have the equation I have the equation that goes like this,

let f(x)=-1/3x + 8
------------
4

That's the equation, and now it wants to know

f(-9)
f (.16)
and find x if f(x) is 1/4

I have looked through the book, and back at the explanations given, and I think I am missing something because I don't even know where to begin. Help!! :confused:

well f(-9) you just put -9 as x into the equation and do the math and you get the answer.

for f(x) = 1/4 you substitute 1/4 in the place of f(x) and solve for x (standard algebra manipulation)
