I have a 3 year old mini dachshund who's x-rays show calcification of 4 disc. He has been on steroids and muscle relaxers for 3 weeks, off for 7 days, and pain returned. The vet has put him back on meds. I have read many articles on line referring to Ester-C for many dachie back problems. My vet states that vitamin C will lower the Ph in his urine and can cause stones. I certainly don't want to complicate other problems he already has, but so many people (and vets on line) have stated some wonderful results with this vitamin. I'm looking for any alternatives to surgery that I can find. I tried aqua therapy once, he tensed up, struggled, and started with severe pain again after having had some relief for about a week. Thanks for any advise.
I have moved your post to the dogs board of the forum where it will get the answers it deserves from some very educated dog lovers. The medical conditions board is designed for us bipeds. LOL

I say work with your vet. If Ester-C was such great stuff, why hasn't there been an article in the JAVMA educating the vets on it? I have a very low opinion of the dog advice on the net. It is full of sites put up by kooks and those with an agenda. You might look at my critique of a link posted in another thread at https://www.askmehelpdesk.com/dogs/ivillage-advice-98752.html#post445858

LMAO, if it is only a first degree burn (looks like a sunburn) a little aloe should help. Here I'll snip some off my aloe plant for you. LOL

Tell me exactly what meds your dog is on, the age of the dog and also the weight .
At the time of reply, I will explain why we don't use vit-c in a vet formula for success in k9 meds.
