Ok I know I answer a lot of questions on here and should know the answer to this, but I am really confused on this one. I am 10/11 weeks pregnant aprox. ( I am getting dated via ultrasound next tuesday) with my second child (4th pregnancy) and have already started showing some in the front. (I am pretty thin, and Im pretty sure that's why).I have been feeling the fluttering for a couple weeks now, and my doctor says that sometimes, its just felt earlier with later pregnancies (which I have read). But the last 3 or 4 days I have actually been feeling little kicks or maybe even little hiccups various times throughout the day, but mostly at night and first thing in the morning. Here is where I am confused... Everything I Have ever been taught or read says that this is very unlikely due to the size of the baby, but I am certain it isn't my bowels or intestines, It is a different feeling than that. You can actually see a little thump on my stomach, like a spasm. In fact, I thought that was what it was at first, but it isn't continuous, and there is no pattern to it, like there normally is, and then of course its lasted for a few days now... anyone ever experienced this type of thing and may know an answer? I'd like to think it's the baby, but my logic tells me otherwise... unless maybe the ultrasound shows Im farther along, but I really doubt that, because I was tracking my cycle pretty closely and knew the exact date of my period.. so it could only be off a couple weeks at most... and I don't think that would make this much of a difference. I don't recall feeling the other babies this early. Any ideas are appreciated... esp. from 2+ time moms. Thanks!

Is there a possibility of twins? :)

I had an early ultrasound to look for a heartbeat at 5 1/2 weeks (feared miscarriage with bleeding and cramping), and there was only one heartbeat, yolk sack and "alien blob" on screen... LOL... can they hide from the ultrasound?

Its possible that because this is your fourth pregnancy(you feel things sooner and more acutely), and you are so skinny to begin with that you can just feel your baby moving, and you show sooner. Also depends on the way you carry, etc. I tend to be tilted inward a bit more, so even though I am really skinny, I don't show as much or as fast, simply because I carry more inside then out. With both of my boys, I started to feel movement as early as the third month. (9-12 weeks) they thought my first boy was possibly twins because of it, but it just turns out he was a big 8lbs 21 1/2 inches. My second son was 7 7.2 oz and 19 3/4 in. so its possible you are just having a larger baby. Also some women are more intuned to their bodies then others. Its possible I suppose that one baby is hiding at this point, but I doubt it. Good luck and keep us posted

Yeah I didn't think there was the whole "missing twin" thing anymore with today's technology. Im still thinking it may be some kind of spasm. I will ask my doc about it next Tuesday... just thought it was odd and wanted to see if anyone else had it happen.

I don't know.. but my friends and this one lady I know.. my friend.. when she was pregnant.. she was only like 2 months and she could feel everything... she had the same thing as you.. but they never did find the heart beat so they were thinking it was growing in side of her dead.. and of course everyone was scared about it.. and then when she was like 6 months they finally found the heartbeat.. so I think that they can hide.. because they don't just stay in one spot... they move all around as you should know.. and the other lady.. she felt the same thing too.. only she is having twins.. as early as 1 1/2 months she could feel them really good.. she alwayz felt funny in her stomach... so.. don't worry about it.. I'm pretty sure is the baby.. docs are never right. Or never wrong.. so you should know what it is. You're the mother.. mothers know everything about they're bodies..
Well, I don't know about the validity of the advice above mine Al, but I will say that I was like you with my 4th pregnancy. You see, with each subsequent pregnancy we are more intuned with our bodies, we KNOW what the fluttering and the kicking feels like as we have experienced it three times before.
Also, since you are so thin, this would be even more possible. Congrats again to you Al, pregnancy was always my favorite time of life. I LOVED it.

They still miss twins today... My u/s tech told me that... and where your at you could be feeling movement too. You just notice it more with more pregnancies. I felt my last single child at about that many weeks and with the twins I was feeling them as early as eight weeks... I looked at my hubby and told him I'm not supposed to be feeling this yet... low and behold... twins... The reason the can still miss them on u/s is because one will hide directly behind the other... I'm not saying it's twins just that they still miss them from time to time. ;)

hmm... well I will be having another ultrasound next Tuesday, so hopefully that will give me some sort of answer. My husband thinks I'm farther along, but I don't think so. Im not really keen on the idea of twins.. lol.. I don't know if I could handle two at once.. lol... I have the utmost respect for mothers of twins and triplets.
thanks for all of your opinions. I had to spread the love on Buggage and J_9, but I always value both of your opinions!

Twins aren't that hard... Keeping a schedule is the key

You said that you don't know for sure how far you are but that you tracked your period. Maybe you are further than you think, could you have had a breakthrough bleeding and thought it was a period? Also, when I was pregnant with my son I knew the exact date of my last period (I write dates of stat and stop in a calendar), but when they did the dating for me they said something about when you conceive, you are actually already 2 weeks pregnant. Didn't make sense to me but who am I to question my OB.

I bet... but what happens when the schedule is disrupted by my 3 1/2 year old? I would definitely have to quit my job...

Lablover... what you are describing is the date from the LMP (Last mentsral period) which is where I'm getting the 10/11 weeks... (im halfway between the two right now.) but the gestational age of my baby is 8/9 weeks. But most doctors go by the LMP...
I thought at first I may be farther along and just mistook the bleeding for a period, but I had my ultrasound at 5 weeks and if it were a month older it would look much different... my baby was barely detectable at that ultrasound... just a yolk sac with a tadpole clinging to it... lol.. so I'm pretty sure I have my LMP correct. Thanks for the help though!

You adapt... lol... that's all motherhood is adapting to the unknown and making it known... lol... Has your dr said anything about you measuring large for gestational size yet? If not then don't worry.

I guess so... my husband would definitely have to adapt.. lol... he only wants 2 children... my first visit is next Tuesday. My OB will not see women until they are 10-12 weeks along. I saw the lab techs today for bloodwork, and I saw the ultrasound tech and a different doctor when they thought I was miscarrying. But like I said, I was only 5 weeks then.
