We have a 7 year old female coon dog, starting last week her mouth seemed to be very sore, the vet gave her an antibiotic with no results. Now she is worsening. She hurts and cries whenever she moves any part of her body, is having trouble urinating but strangely has had no fever. She has been on prednisone now for 4 days, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. Please, we would take any help.

You might try another vet. A vet may be slow to catch a less common problem. A friend lost valuable time last summer before the vet finally discovered her Golden Retriever had Lyme disease. The dog is back to normal now, but his kidneys were permanently damaged and may shorten his life. I don't think Lyme disease starts with a sore mouth, but something else unusual may. Some conditions are quite hard to pick up, and one vet may see something another missed.

Don't wait before you take your sweet animal to a real vet. She will love you for it!

The vet has done some blood tests so hopefully that will show something that we can help her with! I appreciate your time and replies!!
