I live and work in seattle, Washington at a residential facility for vulnerable adults. My car was parked to the side of a driveway between two buildings at my workplace. Although it is not a designated parking spot, many employees park there. A visiting family member of one of the residents grazed the front passenger side of my car. The damage seemed minor--some scratches and one small dent. When I spoke to the driver, she claimed to be uninsured and driving with a suspended license. She offered to work something out and gave me her contact info and driver's license #. I told her I would need to check in with my workplace because it occurred on the job. What are my options around 1.) insurance claims? ; 3.) will this affect my insurance rates? ; 3.) do I need to file a police report and what would happen if I do so? The accident happened 3 days ago. I did not report this to my insurance or make a police report. Is it too late to file a claim or report, and how does this delay affect any claim or report made at this point? I'm waiting on a response from my workplace regarding the incident. I have been driving the car as usual since the accident. While I thought she merely grazed my car (I did not witness the accident), I am now hearing a strange noise when I make any sharp left hand turns that was not there before. I'm trying to give this family a break, but not at the expense of costly repairs.

Well not much use of a police report, since it was not done in a timely manner and they can't come and look at the cars as damaged
Have you talked to the person who did it ? Have they offered to pay ?
Have you gotten any estimates of getting it fixed yet?
1. no need to talk to your workplace, it ain't their fault, and you needed to call the police at the scene.
2. let me see they had no insurance and no license, so what would make you think that they would then pay you, if they would not do other things legally
3. you can sue them in court yourself
4 or you can turn them over to your insurance company if you have full coverage insurance and let them pay ( minus your deductable).
So you need to get your car checked out, get an estimate of all the needed repairs, call them and see if they can write you a check, and if not turn it over to your insurance and let your insurance sue them if they want.
*** it can effect your insurnce rates if they don't get paid back.

Cops would likely not make a report even minutes after the accident since it wasn't on a public street. They shy away from parking lot skirmishes. You won't see money coming from soneone who is already breaking several laws. Report it to your insurance as an unwitnessed accident. Most companies will not hold this type of accident againist you they are all different. Ask your agent what will happen before you call a claims number.
