My 92 Honda DX Civic recently started cutting off while driving, it seems like it’s starving for gas but if I peddle the gas it struggles but stays on. The idle becomes rough and when it does shut off, I have to wait a while before I can get it to start.

I checked the ECM because I had to replace it recently, but it checks fine. (resistance is within specs). My most recent experience with this issue was at a red light, the idle became rough and a very faint line of smoke sipped out from the steering near the indicator lever. I had to wait before I started the car, after that it ran fine for the rest of the drive. (I stay close to home, nothing is further than 3 miles)

I have since stopped poking around because I am consumed by all the possibilities, please post if you have ever seen this before or know of it.

Thanks a bunch to all,

John Luna

. Check for codes.
. Test/replace Ignition Control Module (ignitor) and coil. Many AutoZone stores will do this for free.
. Check/replace main relay.
