:o I got divorced in the state of Texas in 2003. My ex was awarded custody of all 3 of our children. In the state of Texas when a child becomes 12 years of age I know they are allowed to choose who they want to live with. My daughter will be 12 next month and since our separation and divorce she has wantd to be with me. I live in Louisiana now and I have to go back to Texas to get her. Her father is saying I won't get her there's no need to try. He knows a lot of people in the court system there and that is one reason how he got the kids. How can I, a nobody, take him to court and get my baby? I am so frustrated. She crys when I have to take them home. It's killing me. Someone please... HELP!!

I just want everyone to know I have an update. I went and got a lawyer. My daughter signed a paper saying she wants to live with me and we have submited that to the court and her daddy was served the papers. It's looking real good that I will get her. I just wanted you all to know!! Ty for all your help.

My suggestion would have been to get a lawyer in Texas, in the original origin of jurisdiction. Your ex would say anything to keep you from getting her!

I called my lawyer yesterday, and she is in Texas, I called to see if his lawyer had replied to my request. My lawyer told me that he had not replied, which means all I have to do is finish paying off my lawyer fees and we will set a court date and that's it! I will get what I requested since he did not reply in a timely manner. So, if there are any of you with doubts about trying to get your babies just have faith. That's what I did and it paid off for me.
