Hi ladies!

Recently I highlighted my hair with bleached blonde highlights at the salon. The color underneath is a dark brown color. I love the results but worry about growing it out.

When it does grow out I wanted to color maybe a golden brown color to dye over the highlights and the hair underneath myself instead of going to the salon. I was wondering if this would work. Since my highlights are bleached I know that the highlights will still show up lighter than the rest of the hair but that is fine. I just want to know if it will actually work out this way and if golden brown would be a good choice to put over my bleached highlights (I heard any ash color will turn it green or purple)

Thanks!

Sweetie, if you have blonde highlights and your natural black hair color starts to show, you would have retouch your roots with bleach then deposit a toner in order for it to look natural. If you apply a single process golden brown color on your new growth, you will end up with dark reddish tones. And dyeing over blonde highlights with a golden brown may result in an unpleasant color. You will need to use a violet base color to avoid any unpleasant results. It would be best to get your color professionally done.
