Okay, Well now I am borrowing my moms old car, lol it's a 81 mercury zepher GS it has a str8 six in it. It has a new carb now and the idle was too low on it, so I turned it up a bit. But before finding the right adjustment screw I adjusted the red one, which wasn't the right one. I think it's the fuel mixture screw? The car now smells like its getting too much gas and its hard to start if its warm, its getting flooded really easily. I just need to know where or how I can tell where it needs to be set, back to the way it was. I thought it was right but I guess not. Thanks for your imput! Take er easy:rolleyes:

The red idle mixture screw likely has a "limiter" on it, so you can't get it too far out of whack. I would start by turning it 1/8 turn in the opposite direction from which you turned it, until it improves. Keeping doing this, until you hit the optimal performance point.
