One way to find out if you are ovulating is to look for your bodys signals. Please excuse my spelling errors in advance. When your body ovulate (release of an egg) is flows along with what is called corpus luitium (sp. Errors I'm sure) it is a slimy mucus like substance much like egg white. You can find that yourself. But since you have not had your period in 10 months. you have a problem. Go to your obgyn and they can give you meds to bring your period on. I know this for sure because at one time I did not have my period for about 5 months. I took a hormone pill for about 5 days stopped and within a day or to old aunt flo was back

Thanks for replying my doctor hasn't offered me anything like that also been going to the doctors from the first missed period and when I went to see him on the 4th month of my missed period he did a blood test and realised I had an underactive thyroid so put me on medication for that! Since then had more blood tests and hormones are all fine again now could this be a reason for my missed periods, also my periods stopped after having my little girl, I had the bleed like you do after a baby was put on the pill and came off after a month and then from then have not had a period!

After I had my baby, I had lots of mentrul problems. Aloth of weight gain (unexplained) high cholesterol, skin tags and like a staining on my neck (it looked dirty) after serching many doctors and getting advice from go on weight watchers etc. I had enough. My husband and I did some research and came up with the solution to all my problems. I found a great endcronolgist straight out of med school. Told him what myself diagnosis was he ran a bunch of test gave me meds and guess what. I have a better than pre baby body all due to the fact I had polycystic ovarian syndrome.

By the way one of the docs gave me the pill to initiate period, but did not care to treat any other problem. And had no desire to treat me for menstrul problems after my period started.

I have been tested for polycystic ovary syndrome and tests case back that I hadn't got it.
Its so frustrating I want another baby and I am fed up of going backwards and forwards to the doctors. Now I have to wait because he wants to test my partners semen even though its me with the period problems!!

The only thing I have got is the weight gain from having my daughter which I haven't been able to get rid of due to the underactive thyroid! The weight is mainly around the middle and what do you mean skin tags?

danielnoahsmommy

Little skin pieces, usually around your neck they hang like a tag. (warts)

Well you have two choices.

1)a little self help. Go to your obgyn tell them you have not had your period in 10 months. And you want it now. They can or should give you meds to kick start it.

2) find yourself another endocrinologist

I do not believe that you have pcos. I'm not a doctor soI can't treat you. The diet my endocronologist recommends is the south beach diet. Try it it can't hurt

From what I understood if you don't have a period then you can't be ovuating because that is what a period does it cleans the body to prepare for a baby a place to lay down. I think it is super rare to get pregnant without a period!! I have a cousin who hasn't had a period in two years and they have been actively trying to get pregnant and can't!!

I would see a doctor anyway because going over 6 months without a period calls for seeing a doctor. I cannot begin to tell you what I have been through with my irregular periods and it is driving me crazy also. I have done tests and pelvic ultrasound, pap smear etc and all the tests are normal. The doctor finally put me on a birth control pill after I didn't have my period for 4 months before that and BOOM my period starting coming on normally after I started the pill and I stayed on the pill for 6 month. The dr said that I was cured and I was fine for several months but now my period is abnormal again after being off the pill for about 4-5 months.

I will have my period every 3 months and sometimes not for a year and then again not for 6 months and then it will be longer than normal. I have also gained weight and I did have a few ovarian cysts a while back but the dr said they went away on there own. Since I am little overweight now and since my period is very irregular my dr sais that it is rare that I can get pregnant and If I do I may have a misscarriage. He said that maybe what caused my irregualar periods was the weight gain and he claims that if I lose the weight back that most likely my period will be regular again. I am thinking that maybe it is the weight gain that caused the problems and I am now trying to lose the weight back.

My doctor seems to really good though, he has also ran a thyroid test also because thyroid problems can cause sever weight gain and abnormal periods. My doctor ran 3 different blood test and at different times, some before I ate and some after, etc because he said that Hypo thyroidism can be very hard to detect in the blood work. After this he said my thyroid is fine and the blood work to check my hormones was fine and the only thing that was not good was that I found out I was anemic. I was put on repliva and I knew that being tierd a lot was another symptom that I had also and that was from the low iron I had. My doctor wants to send me for some more tests that I will go for later on!

Doc is an idiot. Periods can bee irregular if you are obease. There is a pill. I think it was progesterone that gave my cycle a kick start not birth control pills

Why do you get skin tags?

I was given birth control and it really helped my periods to become normal again and to come at the same time every month. My periods were really weird, they would skip and then last 15 days long and I would bleed way too much and then it would skip several months and I was so sick of it. Finally I was put on Ortho Tricyclen and then put on Ortho LO and it really helped but then the dr took me off it and my periods stayed regular for a while and went abnormal again.

Now my periods are still abnormal. I was about 110 pounds and when I gained a good bit of weight my period stayed normal for a few months after the weight gain and then started acting up but it is usually normal when I was at a good weight and had been normal for several years until months after I gained weight. I have other symptoms as well that would be impossible to go in to all of them but I know something is wrong with my but I don't know what.

Brandy, I am glad all is well for you. I just wanted to correct you on something you said.

A woman's cycle, well it is a cycle.

For a certain number of days a month a woman's lining of her uterus grows. A sort of padding for the baby the uterus is waiting for. During this time a woman fallopian tube extrudes usually one egg either from the right or left ovary. i.e. ovulation takes place. During this time the ovary follows the trail of the Fallopian tube during this time if a sperm is in the Fallopian area and by chance fertilizes the egg it will continue into the uterus where it will attach itself to the lining of the uterus, therefore developing the placenta.

If fertilization does not occur (sperm meets egg) the uterus sheds its lining (no baby this month) and the cycle starts anew..

I hope this clarifies it for you.

Of course! I know this already and I didn't say otherwise. I don't know where the answer went wrong here and where I said that that is not true about a women's cycle. All I did was give facts about what I have experieced and that is it..

Brandy this is where you went wrong. The period does not clean itself so the baby can have a place to lay down. The uterus needs the lining to "lay down"

You can ovulate without a period. There are drugs like clomid which help you ovulate one or many more eggs.

On your own it would be reare to get pregnant without a period. This is why I suggested she get a clear explanation as to why she is having this problem before she starts clomid.
