So I cut off the GFCI switch on my A/C unit! It was blowing too often. I am only going to be running it while we are home, and have it hooked to a circuit breaker, but I can't figure out how to rewire it for the life of me. It has bare wires located next to the positive and negative wires. Where do those wires hook to? Ground?

Please clarify - it's hard to tell from your brief description just what your problem is. Are you trying to replace a GFI outlet with a standard (non-GFI) outlet?
Do you have any idea why the outlet was GFI-protected in the first place? For example, is it in a bathroom or above the kitchen counter?
Were the bare wires you mentioned originally attached to the green ground screw on the GFI?
