OK, so I have sisters that try to take over my computer so I like to have it password protected... when the screen saver goes on though it kicks me off the internet. Is there any way I can keep the internet, aim, Google talk etc. on while the computer is still being locked?

How does it kick you off the internet? Are you using a dialup connection? A broadband connection such as dsl or cable should always remain connected.

If you are using dsl or cable, you can connect it to a broadband router. This way the internet connection is always there, even if the computer is turned off.

I am not sure that it will solve problem but you can try.
Open your connection's dialog box. Click properties button. Now in the dialog box that comes click on Options Tab. There will be a option "Idle time before hanging up:". Set this option to never. Now click on OK.
