How can I determine the resolution (DPI) of a photo file that already exists on my computer? I'm working on a project that requires high resolution (300DPI or better) for print work but I'm unsure of the DPI of .jpg and .tiff files that have been sent to me, or downloaded from the internet.

Thanks

I use a great free image manipulation program called XnView. It will tell you the details of the image. Get it here: XnView (http://perso.orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/endownload.html)

Usually if you scroll over the file the information will pop up. That is the case with windows anyway. I just scroll over or rightclick on the file and press "Information" or "Properties" and it will show the photo file size.
