I recently pulled my weedeater out of the shed after a long winter. I gased it up and was able to start it with the full choke on. The problem is as soon as I try and take it out of the full choke position the engine dies. I've ran it for about 5 to 10 minutes in the full choke position but every time I try to move it to half choke or choke off it fires up and runs for a couple of seconds then dies. Any ideas?

I am only relating to my experience. I have 5 Echo weedeaters! Each fall I run them dry & start in the spring with a NEW air filter and fresh gasoline/oil mix. One of the Echo's is a 2200 that I have had for 19 yrs. It is also possible that the fuel line has an air leak. I find cleaning the air filter on a regular basis very important. Good luck.

After reading a number of these solutions it appears the most common is cleaning the engine as old gas and gunk will clog the fuel and air paths. I'm going to try to simply flow some fuel system cleaner through the engine first. I this does not work then disassembly of the fuel paths including the carb, then clean and blow out with air. This will most likely solve 90% of the issues, basic common sense also applies, fresh fuel with the proper 40-50/1 gas/oil ratio and good spark plug along with air cleaner filter.
