My dryer is about 6 years old and will not cut off when I open the door during the middle of a cycle? Any clues to what's going on? I really do not want to have to pay Sears to come and look at it and fix it.

I would test the door switch, monentarily overide switch to test.

Two possible problems:1 the switch(lever) may catch something and stuck close,to the contactors welded together, I vote for #1
