Can anyone help me with this problem?

My Dell Inspiron monitor is going haywire - the background color goes from white (normal) to an aqua color. Sometimes it stays aqua for 10 minutes before it flashes back to white again - sometimes it doesn't do it at all - when it does do it, some gentle tapping on the machine usually will get it to change back to white - but this does not always work - I've checked the connector underneath the keyboard... it is not loose (the monitor connector not the keyboard connector) - I'm at my wits end!

Thank you very much!

Does it have a regular DB 15 Monitor plug? If so, check and clean pins #1 and #6, it is losing red. The pins may be labeled in a minuscule font. Otherwise, looking at the pins on the monitor cord, with the wider side on top, the pins are numbered L-R, 1-5,6-10, and 11-15.

I think Lab missed that this is a laptop. Sounds like time for a repair. But you can try hooking it up to an external monitor to see if it's the monitor or the video adapter.

Since you have checked the connector under the keyboard, if you are confident enough to give it a try, you could check the cables that connect into the back of the screen and inverter PCB are seated properly.

Failing that, sounds like a possible damaged cable, although the damage may not be obvious looking at it.
