I know Art Garfunkel sings a song "bright eyes." but there is also a song called "total eclipse of the heart, by bonnie tyler and the words go like, "turn around bright eyes... " I hope that helps.

I think there are a couple of Bright Eyes songs, but I do know that Art Garfunkel recorded one. Not sure if that's the one you're looking for. His "Breakaway" album is one of my favorites (personal involvement) - if you like his music, give this one a listen!

Art Garfunkel sung the song "Bright Eyes", that is used in the movie Watership Down, but that is from 1978.

The song is TOTAL ECLIPSE - it is originally from the German Musical - DANCE OF THE VAMPIRES. If you look on Youtube you can find videos from the show.
Bonnie Tyler did sing the pop hit version in the US.

I remember the late great John Peel playing an outrageous but moving version of Bright Eyes sung by a hopelessly out-of-tune young boy on his late night show about 38 years ago. Anybody know of it?

Sorry, folks. Found it after all! Matthew Butler aged 6 sung it on Tiswas in 1980. Now off to find it. Pete
