Do you have to have a family member with you if you want to get a piercing?

In most states in the US you must have parent's permission if you are underage. So, if you don't have parent's permission, it would not be wise to get a piercing.

You are suppose to bring a parent but to tell the truth most places CAN NOT know for sure if who you are bringing is your parent or a adult friend. I do not think they can make them show a birth certificate or anything and most parents have different last names from there children.

Although you can get the person who goes with you in trouble because if or when your mom finds out that you got the piercing she can go back to the tattoo shop and they will give her the signers name or you will end up telling her and if she wanted too she can sue the person for this!!

I don't think so. I went with my friend for piercing. She got the piercing. No one asked for her parents.

If you are legal age, you can go by yourself or with a friend. I have had many piercings over the years and most of the time have just gone alone..

I think if you're under 18 you have to have a responsible adult with you.
I went with my boyfriend to get mine done, am 18 but no-one asked my age.
