I would like to change my son's middle name. He's currently 7yrs old. I was wondering if I need to have his father's consent? We've had no contact from his father in 6yrs. And he does not pay child support. He contributes nothing to the welfare of my son. You would be better off spending the money for a name change on an attorney to file in family court to force him to pay, why is he not paying child support, how many times have you taken him back to court,

These are the important issues, I am sure your son could care less about his middle hame, most likely it is you that want it changed because it is his fathers name?
He is already in school, has a social security card, leave the name alone.
