I removed a fluorescent light and replaced it with a ceiling fan/light combo a little over a month ago. It was working fine until two days ago. I turned the switch, the lights flickered and then the whole thing went dead.

When I use a circuit tester the test light is lit, but it looks dim compared to when I plug the circuit tester directly into an outlet. And even though the tester says there is voltage, the fan/light won't work.

In addition to normal light switch line, the rest of the homes eletrical lines for the lights also run through the fixture and if I wire the black lead from the fan into the rest of the black wires the fan/light works. When I use just the wall switch line (the way it's been for a while) nothing works now.

Is there a reason why I'm getting this sudden voltage drop considering the new light was working fine for a month and the old light foe years prior?

All the electrical lines for the condo lights run through the kitchen fixture and if I wire the fan's black lead into the other black wires the light works just fine. If I wire it into the wall switch lead, nothing happens.

Is it possible to have a sudden drop in voltage like this or is it something else? Any suggestions for how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

How about the wall switch feed line, bet its 110vac. I'd suspect the switch is bad, try jumpering at the switch, just to test it.

Check your Light switch, and test neutral at fan.
The power for that switch may also be coming from ceiling, Wires can come loose, Ckeck ceiling connections. If you don't have a Tic Tracer type tester(Its plastic and you can probe
Into electrical box, to see if ANY live wires present, Without Neutral or ground for reference) Otherwise you may need to shut off 120 volt breakers to be safe.
Neutral Probably good , since fan works on different hot.
