I have an '85 Nissan 300zx non-tubo.

The head lamps no longer work. The motor lifting the lamps does. It started with the brights. When I switched to brights, they would wink - one would go off then the other as the first turned back on. Eventually, the brights stopped working completely.

Now, the normal headlamps won't turn on. They will still come up but not turn on. The lamp light on my dash comes on when I turn on the switch. Now when I turn on brights, the car still winks but this time it is the motor in the headlights going up and down slightly out of phase. It's pretty entertaining, except that I can't drive at night.

I tried replacing the lamps early on, but that didn't work. I've switched a couple relays to see one was not functioning but again got nothing. Fuses are all good.

Any ideas?? Thanks

. Test all under-dash and under-hood fuses with a test light or multimeter. Here's how:

. Use a test light or multimeter to test for power in each bulb's socket.
. Ensure all connectors are corrosion-free.
. Check/replace multi-purpose switch. This could be the source of your problems.
