My car won't start starter doesn't run (dosent emit sound) but no batt light
& how do I wire my other batt (an new one from a previous car) to boost it ? If that is the prob all lights are normal every thing is fine except that when I drive it (push started) some gauges freak out a litle & my fan doesn't seam to run... (ill try running it for an hour tomorrow to see if I can charge the batt) also I have an anti-start device (witch seam to desable proprely)

Trouble started when I stop at a corner-store & sparked a static shock on the door when I went in so not shure it's related I sparked several before then never caused any trouble

It's 191k -km, batt is not original (napa) 4 door LX,95

Also is it a good idea to add a body kit to it (its rusty so while I'm painting I tought... )

If the old battery has set around long, it may not have much of a charge either. Try connecting a light bulb across each battery. If it doesn't give a nice white light, the battery is dead. If the old battery lights the bulb OK, connect it up, positive to positive and negative to negative just like using jumper cables from another car.

I doubt the static spark has anything to do with the problem. The alternator may not be working. That could have caused the battery to go dead, and the gages and fan not to work if they aren't getting enough voltage. Even with a bad battery, the alternator should be able to hold the system voltage at 14 volts with the engine running.

Hi. It's been a while since your post so I imagine you have solved the problem (or binned the car!). If not - here's the likely problem you're having and the solution:


If you look under the intake manifold at the rear of the engine there is a pack of wires. This pack rubs on the bottom of the intake and creates a short circuit which screws up the speedo, sets off the check engine light and gives a trouble code for the O2 sensor. And causes the headlights to surge and alternator to stop charging the battery.

Just crawl under the car when it is up on stands and gently turn over the pack of wires under the intake to expose the bare wire or wires. Tape them up with insulation tape and away you go.
