Hi

I am now exactly 9 months clean. My drug of choice was crack cocaine but I feel that my energy levels are dropping drastically despite trying everything.

Please advise what I can do to increase my concentration and energy levels:confused:

I advise seeing a Doctor, but congratulations. I am positive of one thing, your vitamin B levels will be very low. Please see a Doctor.

One of the difficulties of stopping a stimulant is lacking an adequate frame-of-reference for what is normal.

Your body has been programmed to operate needing a "jump-start", so you must begin to reprogram your mind and body with good information and behaviours. For example, develop a simple wake-up rountine to perform every morning until it becomes second nature. This will become your body's new signal or trigger for getting yourself going. It is what psychologist call behaviour therapy. Give it a try!

Also, B12 is a well known vitamin for boosting energy levels.

Another idea is trying an herbal alternative to boost energy levels. GNC health food chains carry many of these type products.

But before going out of your way to try products, first assess your eating, sleeping, and exercise habits, as all of these can dramatically effect your energy levels.

Best Wishes!

If you don't mind me asking, how did you stop using crack cocaine? I would really like some advice on stopping for a loved one of mine. Thank you so much! And congrats on being clean it's the best thing for you and everyone who cares about you!

Hi Zain,

Have the same problems, found myself sleeping a hell of a lot. My advice to you is a good diet, gentle but regular exercise and to try and keep your brain active. Ask your doc for some multi-vitamins and try and pile on some pounds with eating little and often.

Good luck mate.

I agree working out does help! I have been clean for two years and it seems like the first year clean I was just tired a lot and lazy. I do some kind of cardio work out almost every day and I go to bed and wake up about the same time every day, that seems to help a lot too. Good luck and congrats on your clean time!
