Does anyone out there know how to get the fan off the air conditioner condenser motor shaft? Mine seems to be rusted on a bit. I tried WD40 and a few lubricants but I don't want to ruin the shaft if I already haven't. What's the trick? I'm going to be getting a new motor in the mail and I need that old Fan!

Thanks,
Greg

I am in the AC business and I use a fan puller, so it is possible for you to go to a machine shop and have them to either pull the fan off or possibly push it off with a press.
Do not hammer on the end of the shaft. This swells the metal and you will never get it off.

Something I thought of as I was typing is to use heat, so if you have a torch heat the joint where the shaft goes through the hub, then adjust a crescent wrench to fit the flat spot on the shaft and try to turn the shaft in the hub,

WD40 it real good! Loosen the set screw and use a cresent wrench to turn the shaft back and forth working it loose while holding the blade once it seems free start to pull upwards on the blade while turning the shaft. Ive done this stuff for a long time and have changed many motors and it always works for me. GOOD LUCK!
