My boyfriend and I have been living together for just about 3 1/2 years in my home not his. I live in Michigan ( Lansing ) He had not paid anything towards a bill for the first 2 1/2 years. He now pays weekly. Other than it is a bit more complex than that. Because I want him out is due to his drinking and not coming home till he is drunk. He hangs over my head that he will not give me a dime towards anything until I pay him back 2ooo.oo. Ok now here is the complex part. I sold my car for 12 hundred and put the money towards another car for 35hundred. He had put 2 grand towards this car. It is titled my name and the insurance as well. He told me he would not move until I paid him back the 2 grand he put towards the car. I told him that he did not pay me a dime for 2 1/2 years in this home and that if anything he owed me money and for him to do the math. Alough a while back I called the police on him to make him leave the police told me that if he has cloths here in this house then I could not make him leave because he lives here. Makes no sense to me. He never changed his address to my home he has a post office box. I am confused here and do not no what to do. Would the sherrif have a different say about this situation? To evict him it would take 30 days? I am at a loss here and need some advice ASAP

Ok, first the debt on the car has NOTHING to do about his living in your home. He can and may sue you in civil court ( small claims most likely) and force you to pay him the money.

He is a tenant, and you will have to evict him according to the rental rules of your state. * check the stickies on the main page on real estate law. But basically you will have to give him a notice to move out, and if he does not, you file for eviction though the county court.
